Book II - Tryst Summary:

Following the calamitous debut of The Phoenix, a traumatized Simon and grief-stricken Nathan reunite in an attempt to pull the pieces of their broken lives back together. Simon finds that his love of music evaporated on that ill-fated night, while Nathan discovers that he has not only lost part of his memory, but also time. As each seeks to recover that which was taken, the afflicted pair embarks on a cross-country journey with lethal forces in unrelenting pursuit only a breath behind.

Nathan dreams of Jonathan, but still finds his whereabouts and fate shrouded in mystery. Yet now, a new figure has emerged on the world scene—the enigmatic musician/philosopher Jimi T. Expo. His music takes the world by storm, and its accompanying quasi-religious movement, The Way of Mystic Realism, seems to spread like wildfire, filling the deepest yearnings of each soul who dares to embrace its precepts. Joined by the equally mysterious Tæsír Hoc, the two find a transcendentally numb populace all-too-ready to relinquish their interior sovereignty for the promise of release…

In the eye of the storm, Nathan and Simon struggle to navigate the transforming landscape of this new world, drawn irresistibly towards an unknown destination—and an un-chosen fate.

Or might he indeed have a darker purpose? One man, Nathan Page, steps into center stage; facing the maelstrom through the eyes of an agnostic, but with a heart perhaps somewhere else.

The scene has been set in an all-too-familiar, frighteningly contemporary time period. In the final analysis, will mankind choose good over evil? Or perhaps even worse, will he even be able to tell the difference?
